3-PHASE PROCESS Strategic Foresight Maturity Assessment
The SFMA is a tool to evaluate the Strategic Foresight Mturity Level of an organization. It is organised in 3 phases.
The Future Is Uncertain — Is Your Organization Prepared?
Organizations at the novice level have limited or no formal strategic foresight processes in place. They rely primarily on reactive decision-making and short-term planning with little awareness of foresight methodologies or their benefits.
Emerging organizations are beginning to recognize the importance of strategic foresight and have taken initial steps to integrate it into their processes. They may have some tools or practices in place but lack consistency, alignment, or organizational-wide adoption.
Established organizations have well-developed strategic foresight capabilities embedded within their processes. They regularly use foresight to inform decision-making, anticipate change, and align strategic objectives, supported by strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Expert organizations demonstrate exceptional mastery in strategic foresight. They proactively shape future scenarios, influence their industry, and consistently leverage foresight as a competitive advantage. Their foresight practices are deeply integrated and drive innovation, resilience, and long-term success.

Organizations progress through different maturity levels (Novice, Emerging, Established, Expert) based on their ability to integrate foresight into decision-making, strategy, and operations.
Higher maturity levels indicate a shift from reactive decision-making to proactive anticipation of future trends, risks, and opportunities, ensuring long-term resilience and competitiveness.
As organizations mature, strategic foresight becomes a core function embedded in leadership, culture, and planning processes, enabling continuous innovation and future-readiness.
